Behavior Roundtable Discussions

Join us for monthly Behavior Roundtables.   These two hour discussions focus on one or two areas each week - dog behavior, of course, but also things like owner compliance, and shelter issues. In addition, attendees are encouraged to bring up their own issues.  These could include client dogs, their own dogs, or hypothetical dogs!  Because of the venue, we could actually work with individual dogs, should someone want to do that.
The Round Tables will be at Camp K9 in Corte Madera.  There is a $20.00 fee, as we have to pay rent, and there is a minimum (10) and maximum (20) number of attendees.  The first Roundtable date is Sunday, January 13th from 1 to 3 pm.
So far, here are some potential topics (but the sky is the limit):
  • Sheltering - what’s good for the dogs, how to evaluate properly, reducing stress, training?, culling, adopter help, after adoption help, ethics of no-kill
  • Behavior - when can you socialize, what does it accomplish, what is too much and what is not enough, when can you fix stuff and when do you just manage
  • Tool box - equipment, exercises, modification methods,
  • Ethology - is there a plan?  What does nature intend - anything or nothing? Training against instincts - how well can it work?
  • Training - What are the most important exercises to teach a dog?
  • Owner compliance
  • Individual behavior problems

****Unfortunately, all the round tables are now completely full!   Please fill out the form, if you'd like to be placed on a waiting list****  We will be scheduling more soon!
